How does one define gum disease? As for some, it may sound really simplistic but gum disease is a process that needs to be digested into many different parts so as to arrive with a holistic understanding of it. However, for the sake of explanation, gum disease is best described as a condition wherein the gums suffer from inflammation that was caused by the surfacing of bad bacteria (commonly known as plaque) on our oral cavity. Everyone started out with clean, healthy gums. Our attitude towards oral hygiene will give an indication if we’ll have gum problems. Good oral hygiene prevents gum infection. This is the best preventive measure we can equip ourselves with. Oral issues can be a bit of a hassle because it can ruin ones day with the pain and swelling it brings. Although there are gum disease that are evident only to a trained eyes because the person having it will not have any symptoms at all.
